“What Does the Bible Say About Connection with God?”

A light bulb in your hand won't light up, no matter how you turn it or what you say to it. The bulbs in the ceiling shine easily, with no effort at all, simply because they are connected to a source.

Sometimes we are like that bulb in the hand. We try to be kind, patient and strong. We smile, hold it together and keep going. Then in the evening we are alone and realize it's dark and empty inside, and we have no strength left to shine.

We try to fill that emptiness with work, success, relationships and doing the right things. Sometimes it helps, but not for long.

Jesus said:
"Let your light shine before others" (Matthew 5:16, ESV).

He doesn't say "try harder to shine." Light comes on its own when a person is connected to God. Then your words, the way you see things and the way you treat people begin to change. The urge to judge and to prove yourself right fades. You start noticing people who are struggling, and you can't just walk past them anymore.

THE GOOD NEWS:
🙌 You don't have to become better before you come to God. You don't have to be religious, know a lot or have everything figured out.

God isn't looking for perfect people. He is looking for real people who are ready to come to Him just as they are.

The Bible says God saved us "not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy" (Titus 3:5, ESV). He forgives us because He loves us, not because we earned it. First He lights a light inside us, and then that light becomes visible to others.

Maybe today is the day you can simply say, "God, help me."
